Department of Radioengineering and Production of Radio Equipment (KiVRA) has been founded within the Radioengineering Faculty in September of 1968.
The fourth department in the Faculty has been founded by the decision of Faculty Council under support of all existing Faculty departments. Functions and targets of the Department have been determined as functions of specialized one, responsible for training of students for specialist field "Design and production of radioelectronic equipment".
In 1968-69 there were 5 academics at the Department: Dr. Bovkun M.M., Dr. Malyarevsky M.M.,Dr. Mikhatsky Yu.V. (Head of Department), Dr. Pogrebnyak V.P., Mr. Hodosko M.Ya. In 1969-1960 some new lecturers have come to the department: Dr. Bidenko V.A., Dr. Voznenko B.J., Dr. Grankin I.M. All mentioned above persons were the founders of the Department. Main directions of Department's activities were development of new courses and performing research activity.
Number of students groups was increased from 2 to 4 ones in 1973. The Department helped to enterprises of Kiev in professional development of their specialists; academics of universities from Ukraine, Russia, Belorussia, Lithuania and Latvia visited our Department for in-depth training. Research laboratory for acoustic electronics has been organized at the Department in 1976. 90 research workers including 17 lecturers worked at the Department in 1976.
In 1978 Dr. Zinkovsky Yu.F. has led the Department; earlier he worked in industry and in research bodies.
Later the Department has been developed both resource base and manufacturing capabilities, especially in computing. During 1979-1988 more than 100 workbooks have been edited. Students of the Department actually have been gaining leading places in various annual science contests.
As earlier, some of Department members were working actively in science and methodological bodies within the Ministry of higher education of Ukraine.
New tasks have been stated before the Department during reforming of higher school in Ukraine. New baccalaureate specialty "Electronic equipment" has been created; on basis of it some further Master's courses were developed. In 2008 we have got 5 groups of the students a year, number of lecturers increased up to 26 persons, number of courses – up to 54 units.
The Department actively participates in operation of methodological bodies within the Ministry of higher education of Ukraine. Dr.Zinkovsky Yu.F. is a head of methodological committee for specialty "Electronic equipment" and a head of specialized Council "Electronics and instrument engineering"; Dr. Nelin Ye.A. is a Secretary of the Council.
